I am a freelance writer, editor and content marketing specialist who has made the difficult journey from working in a newsroom to writing from home, successfully supporting my family on my own terms. I am a mom of four beautiful children aged 6, 8, 24 and 28. My life has been weird and amazing, educational and challenging.
I began my career as a beat reporter, worked my way up to editor-in-chief and then after remarrying and having a difficult pregnancy with my third child, I decided to walk away from the career and strike out on my own, changing diapers between paragraphs. I have found that there is so much more to life and motherhood when work is done on your terms and on your schedule.
My diverse work includes writing feature articles for newspapers, magazines, websites, blogs, content marketing, ghostwriting, and editing. Successful careers in freelance writing are obtainable. If I did it, so can you!
I write this personal blog about my journey as a freelance writer and parent trying to improve my skills, patience and overall success, while also working on being the best mom I can be. I am a work in progress. My work life is part of my home life, so the two are confusingly and beautifully intertwined at times. I hope my blog helps you along your way with a “work from home” writing career, inspires you to grow as a parent, or simply helps you to feel less alone on your own, uniquely personal journey.
